 DSF is Right on Target
It’s carnival time on Al Rigga Road again with 120 performers parading in spectacular costumes for a month this Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF).
Daily festivities start from 5pm until 11pm on weekdays, and extend up to 12am during weekends.
The performances will see unique skills of street dancers and musicians, carnival performers, jugglers, stilt walkers, balloon benders, look-a-likes, fire blowers and street bands.
Families with kids walking around Al Rigga may choose to go for face painting, caricature making and ceramic workshop in several kiosks set up in the area.
Al Rigga which once became silent at the time of the construction of the Dubai Metro, has come alive with food stalls during the DSF.
Ibrahim Salah, Coordinator General for the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment (formerly DSF office), said two fun fair areas have been devoted for the occasion.
In all the leading participating entities this DSF, the choicest wares and collections are beckoning shoppers with several signature retailers going up to 75 per cent discounts.
Carpets and rugs worth millions of dirhams are also on display at the Carpet Oasis at this Dubai Shopping Mall.
The only difference is that this year, the Carpet Oasis will highlight the historical and cultural value of carpets in a special museum set up at the West Hall of the Dubai Airport Expo.
Of particular interest will be the display of an antique Mongolian carpet recently uncovered and believed to be at least 2,000 years-old.
Painting exhibitions and daily workshops on ceramics, wood engraving, crystal design, collage, and jewellery making are being conducted by well-known artisans and artists.
Carpet Oasis will also feature a photo exhibit of its exhibitions since 1996. Visitors are invited to take part at the West Hall of Dubai Airport Expo from January 28 to February 28.
The exhibition is open to public from 10am to 10pm from Saturday to Thursday and from 4pm to 11.30pm on Fridays.
Last year’s Carpet Oasis generated sales in millions of dirhams.
At Rivoli, attractive offers are being unveiled to support this year’s DSF. Shoppers making purchases between Dh250 and Dh499 at Hour Choice can scratch and avail discounts from 10 per cent to 25 per cent depending on the purchases.
Similarly, customers making purchases between Dh500 and Dh999 can avail of an additional 5 per cent discount over and above the discount notified in the scratch coupon.
Customers making purchases above Dh1,000 can avail themselves of an extra 10 per cent discount over the discount notified in the scratch coupon.
